Converse Celebrates Art with the Artists of Today

Converse Celebrates Art with the Artists of Today
Converse’s connection to the art world has been around for ages, and to this day, Converse remains an unending source of inspiration, and thus, in its true fashion, the brand launched the You’re It campaign to celebrate artistry in all its form and glory!

Art is not simply a painting or a sculpture featured on the walls and pedestals of museums, it can be anything and everything that expresses oneself.

A really cool, and definitely inspiring, example is the creation dubbed “Plastic City” by Bang Yao Liu. The Taiwanese national is not your typical paint and sculpt artist as he envisions art using mundane everyday things to create masterpieces that simply calls attention to the endless possibility of your kitchenware.

The Thai group known as Be Our Friend shows that collaboration is also an art form as their process of creation takes on a whole new meaning with every eclectic idea a member brings to table. Just think about their “Dream Catcher” installation for Converse and you’d be more than hook to their brand of art reminiscent of Wizard of Oz.

Having come from different races is not a hindrance and Super Nature proved this to be true when you bring together two Malaysians and one Chinese to create masterpieces that thrive on the extraordinary side of lights and everyday objects. You’ll truly feel like you’ve stepped into Wonderland when you get to check out their ME|Wonderland work of art!

Being from different disciplines also has its advantages as they make ordinary into something extraordinary. For the Philippine group tasked to create their own creative installation, it worked out for the best as the curator, MeAn Venturina-Bulanadi, the interdisciplinary artist Buen Calubayan, the multimedia artist J. Pacena II and the cross-disciplinary artist Mark Ramsel Salvatus brings to life “Speaceies” – an interactive display that makes use of recycled and new Converse shoes, plus real live grasses, to express the cycle of life and nature that you can definitely catch roaming around on the streets of Metro Manila.

The world is full of artists, and Converse presents with its campaign a small sampling of the many talented individuals that had found inspiration with Converse in one way or another.
