Undaunted Book, Lopez Values

With Emeritus Chairman Oscar Lopez (Photo by Carl Valenzona)

The book written by Raul Rodrigo entitled Undaunted, timelines the family history of the Lopez clan from 1800-2010. The book was launched last November 22, 2010 at the Rockwell Tent, Makati City. Undaunted showed how the close knit Lopez family struggled and fought several opposing factors to pass on their family legacy from one generation to the next. Today, the Lopezes play a vital role in the Philippine economy and has been serving the Filipinos for almost two centuries.
Chairman Emeritus, Oscar Lopez of the Lopez Group of Companies was there to inspire us with his speech. The line that really impressed me was, "We do not just talk; we walk the talk". I myself have been working on one of the Lopezes companies and I have been witness on how they mold their employees to become champions and winners.

The book launch, showcased photos that depicted how the Lopezes rose and fell through the years and each time, emerging as a family that’s stronger and more unified than before. Mr. Oscar Lopez was also keen in stressing that their victories are always shared with their employees as they are vital keys in every milestone.

Looking back at the time when the Lopezes struggled to build their legacy, you will see that it has always been about service to the Filipino people. The Lopezes employed thousands of Filipinos and honed them to become champions and winners on fields that they excel on. Each employees are treated like true Kapamilyas. Aside from that, the book, Undaunted showed how the Lopezes reached out on several charitable institutions and eventually make their own foundations and institutions to help Filipinos who are in need.

During the event’s cocktail I met the Lopez Group’s Aviator Chief who is also a retired Philippine Air Force officer. He shared cool airline stories and his experiences with the Lopezes. I was really happy to hear his stories because I wanted to be a pilot. He also mentioned that the Lopezes were the first to build an airline company in the Philippines.

I also had the chance to rub elbows with Pacific Hub Corp’s Beaver Lopez who was there in behalf of his father. I introduced myself as one of his employees and I got a nice pat at the back.
I have nothing but good words for the young Lopez because the leadership that he shows on our company is nothing short of excellence. He’s also very approachable which makes it easier to communicate issues with him.

I can’t wait to read and finish the book, Undaunted. I can’t wait to be inspired and be awed.
