Rules for the Waboba Asia Video Competition, Summer 2010
http://blog.waboba-asia.com/
Shoot a video and win a Sanya vacation for two plus 5,000 RMB in cash.
The top prize for the Waboba Asia Video Competition is a two-night vacation for two at a five-star hotel in Sanya, Hainan. The prize includes return flights within Asia to Sanya, Hainan, two nights for two in a five-star hotel and 5,000 RMB in cash.
The winner’s trip to Sanya should ideally coincide with either the Waboba Hainan SurfnSkate event in March 2011 or the Surfing Hainan Open in November 2010.
Competition runners-up will receive various prizes including Waboba balls, Waboba Flyers, beach towels and T-shirts.
The competition is open to anyone in Asia, so get your camera out and start shooting.
Step 1: Make a video up to three minutes long, an exciting one, a funny one, an unusual one… it can be any style you like as long as it includes a Waboba ball in it in some way, preferably with the ball bouncing on water.
Step 2: Post your video on a video website such as Tudou, Youku, Youtube or Vimeo. (If you post it on a site that is outside the Chinese firewall, such as YouTube or Vimeo, keep your video handy because we will ask you either to send us a copy of the video via ftp or to post the video up a second time on a Chinese video hosting website.)
Step 3: Tag the video “Waboba” and “WAVC” along with any other tags you think appropriate.
Step 4: Send us an email at bisai at waboba-asia.com giving your name, address and the URL for your video.
The competition closing date is September 10, 2010
Extra Information:
What type of video should I shoot?
As long as there’s a Waboba ball in there somewhere, the choice is yours. We are allowing videos up to three minutes long to allow you to tell a mini-story if you choose. Also bear in mind that we are keen on “viral” videos, the type of video that you will be dying to tell your friends about.
The video also needs to be appropriate for viewers of all ages. Waboba will not accept entries with content it deems unsuitable.
Keep a high-quality copy of the original video
When you create the video, prepare it in the highest resolution you can and then create a lower resolution version to post up on the video website. If you are a competition winner, we may ask you to provide us with the high resolution version later on.
Who is eligible to enter the competition?
To be eligible for the competition, you must either live in Asia or enter a video filmed during a visit to Asia.
If you are under 18 years old or if the video includes children under the age of 18, we may ask you to provide consent forms signed by a parent or guardian.
How do I enter the competition?
You must signal your entry to the competition by tagging your video “Waboba” and “WAVC” and by emailing us at bisai at waboba-asia.com with your name, address and the URL for your video.
What is the closing date?
The final closing time for the competition is midnight on September 10, 2010.
How many videos can I enter?
You can enter as many videos as you like, but please do not enter multiple versions of the same video. Each entry should be completely different. You can also make changes to your video before the final closing date, as long as you notify us of these changes by email to bisai at waboba-asia.com.
No copyrighted material, please
The video must not include any copyrighted music without the consent of the copyright holder, but there are some websites that allow you to use their music in videos as long as you credit the copyright holder. Try www.podsafeaudio.com.
