MECHANICS
- The contest is open to legal-aged Filipino drivers with valid driver's license.
- Submission of entries is from May 20 - June 20, 2010 at 11:59 pm
- To enter the Shell Smartest Driver promo, participants will be asked to create a video demonstrating or discussing a tip that will allow motorists to increase their fuel efficiency.
- Video entries must not include visuals directly or indirectly related to Pilipinas Shell's competitors and other mnemonic devices such as taglines and slogan. Video entries with these elements will be considered invalid. Only the Shell brand can be used in the video entries.
- In relation to the tip they are sharing, participants must also complete the catchphrase "Ang Pinoy na matipid sa gasolina, ________________." This catchphrase must be included (whether audible or visible) in the video entry.
- Minimum video duration: 30 seconds; maximum video duration: 1 minute. Videos should be in .avi or.mpeg format.
- Participants need to fill up an online registration form before they can submit their entries. They can do this by logging onto www.topgear.com.ph. The information shared will be covered by our privacy policy available on the site. Entries will be uploaded via www.topgear.com.ph.
- There is no limit on the number of entries each participant can submit.
- Upon submitting their video entries, it will take 24 to 72 hours for the videos to be live on the website for viewing.
- If an entry is invalid, the participant will be notified thru email that will state why his entry was rejected. In addition to the requirements stated above, Pilipinas Shell will not upload videos containing lewd, offensive and obscene content.
- The public can vote for their favorite video by registering online via www.topgear.com.ph/shellsmartestdrivers. Voting period is from May 20, 2010 to June 20, 2010 at 11:59pm
- A panel of judges will select 10 finalists from the video entries. The decision of the judges is irrevocable and final.
- The judges will score the videos based on the following: creativity of video (40 points), practicality of tip (20 points), effectivity of tip (20 points), and public votes (20 points).
- The participants who submitted the top 10 videos will be notified 24 to 48 hours after the selection has been made through the contact details they provided.
- The 10 participants must participate in an activity organized by Pilipinas Shell on June 26 in Metro Manila to be considered 'finalists'. If a participant among the 10 selected is unable to attend for any reason, Pilipinas Shell and/or EON Inc. will replace him/her with the one with the next highest score. Transportation, accommodations and other incidentals for finalists will not be sponsored by Pilipinas Shell and/or EON Inc.
- The 10 finalists will each receive PHP 10,000.00 worth of fuel vouchers from Pilipinas Shell at the activity.
- The activity will be comprised of two parts: a fuel economy seminar and a driving challenge wherein participants must attempt to get the most mileage out of 1 liter of fuel.
- All the finalists will use the same model of car and type of fuel, both provided by Pilipinas Shell. Their fuel efficiency will be measured through a standardized procedure using Lysander units provided by Pilipinas Shell.
- The two most fuel efficient drivers will be declared winners and will be sent to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on July 8 to 11 to compete in the 1L consumer challenge in the Asian Shell Eco-Marathon. If a selected winner is unable to attend for any reason, Pilipinas Shell and/or EON Inc. will replace him/her with the finalist with the next greatest fuel efficiency.
- The grand prize winner at the Shell Eco-Marathon will be awarded a fuel-efficient car. Make and model may change.
- Employees of Shell (and its dealers and communication agencies) EON and Top Gear and their relatives up to the second degree of affinity and consanguinity are not eligible to join.

- You understand that we are constrained to timelines implemented by Shell Asia-Pacific. Thus, we have the right to replace you should you not be available on the following dates and locations to ensure the continuity of the campaign: June 26 (activity to determine winner in Metro Manila) and July 8-11 (Shell Eco-Marathon Asia in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia).
- You agree to abide by all Philippine laws applicable to this promo.
