Holy Week 'Penitence' at Mt. Pulag
April 3, 2010

Straddling the Cordillera mountains, Mt Pulag at 3 kilometers

above sea level, is the highest peak in Luzon.
And without any mountain climbing experience, whatsoever,
I led my family to an 'expedition' -- a sort of 'penitence' to 'conquer'
the peak of Mt. Pulag.
After being awed by the giant beastly beauty of Ambuklao Dam

along the way, we trekked the 8km Ambangeg trail.
The scent of the pine forest, cool shades of the mossy
forest and the fantastic wavy grasslands dotted with millions
of incredible dwarf bamboos  serve to soothe our aching muscles.
The view at the peak of Mt. Pulag can only be described as heavenly!

--with freezing temperatures in the midst of summer as
priceless yet free bonanza on the side! Really, I love the Philippines!

"Stacked Up Coffins"
December 26, 2009
Sagada Mt. Province

One of the beauty Sagada has to offer---The Lumiang Burial Cave.

The feeling was so different when I, together with my family came
across with the Burial cave during our Christmas travel at Sagada Mt.
province. I was really curious about those piled up coffins in the cave,
all I knew is that it's some kind of local customs of the place
(and I'm right about that) although I was'n able to find out the
exact reason for this. At first, I found it very spooky most especially
that during that moment, the place was full of fogs and darkness
was to come but eventually after some time, I realized that it
was amazing- everything in it! It has mysteries covered up which
makes me find it as something really interesting. I believe that
there are reasons behind why there is such.

My CamSur Escapade: The Challenge of Mount Isarog
February 11, 2010
Mount Isarog, Camarines Sur, Philippines

The title says it all: I had an escape from my everyday life as a studious

and hardworking 3rd year college student when the United Nations
Development Programme (UNDP) Philippines organized a three-day

retreat to Camarines Sur. As I was just an intern there, I didn't expect
to be invited. But the Country Director was very generous and
he invited me.

We went to CamSur Watersports Complex. The watersports there

were extreme enough for me. I didn't know that there was something
extremer than that until we went to Mount Isarog to trek, plant saplings,
and do the amazing race--UNDP style.

Trekking the mountain sure is a lot of fun if you have companions with you.

Every step unfolds many of nature's wonders: falls, rocks, trees, woods,
insects, rivers, and many others. When we stumbled upon this towering

and steep treehouse, I instantly knew what our 2nd challenge was;
and that is to rappel from that height to the ground. However,
there is but one problem: I am afraid of heights!

Twenty minutes was enough for me to sulk and fear.

My teammates were waiting for me.
I nervously climbed the stairs and when I reached the top,
I wanted to back-out already.
But the assurances of my teammates and friends made me strong
to face my fear. After all, I know I would still be alive.
They are waiting for me down there. And the ropes are very thick.
There's nothing that could go wrong. And indeed nothing went wrong!
My first jump was the last thing that made me nervous. After that,
I felt the strength of the ropes and instantly
became comfortable with the experience despite
the fact that I am too many feet away from the ground.

I landed safely! And the most important of it was,

I conquered my fear of heights! To God be the glory!

Title of entry: "A Peek Into The Old Times"
Date & location: April 11, 2010 at Las Casas Filipinas, Bataan

It was amazing to have discovered Las Casas Filipinas in Bataan.

Upon entry to the compound, you are instantly brought to a quiet
and calm ambiance and make you feel you are really in the old times.
Each stucture is accurately reconstructed to make it look as it would
have back then. The effort exerted in making sure that every
detail is parallel to the theme--structure, accessories, finishing,

etc., is something to be truly admired!

Galera in October
October 30, 2009 in Puerto Galera

I never understood love at first sight until I visited Puerto Galera.

The beach is pristine and the locals are the most friendly people I
have ever met. Galera's underwater is a park.
You would not like to get out of the ocean once you see it.
Grab your friends. Get out of your house. Go there and be amazed.

Title of Entry: The Giants of the North
Date & Location: November 28, 2009, Banqui Windmills, Ilocos Norte

Last November 2009 me and my friends had a chance to visit &

try what Ilocos can offer to tourists, and it doesn't dissapoint us because
it was an awesome sight. Bangui Windmills also known as Northwind
Bangui Bay Project built by Northwind Development Corporation mainly
to provide power to the surrounding villages . It was installed along the
shore to optimize the full benefit of the winds.  Surely, there are a lot of
places here in the Philippines which are worth exploring and we'll never
seize to visit each one of them...

Title:  SAMSON of the North
Date: November 30, 2009
Location: Currimao Rock Formations (Ilocos Norte)

Our barkada visited Ilocos Norte last November.  One of the best place

there is the Currimao Rock Formations. All we can do is to sigh on the
beauty of this place.  We were amazed on how these giant rocks
formed in span of time.  Surely, any SAMSON or even Delilah would
love to visit this wonderful place.
